Afrikora Lamine in Concert – A Journey of Music and Vision

Opening-time: 18.30

The evening is led by Afrikora Lamine, a 42nd-generation griot from Senegal and master of the kora, the 21-string West African harp-lute. Its unique sound combines the brightness of a harp, the rhythmic pulse of a lute, and the depth of a bass. For Lamine, the kora is not just an instrument – it is memory, spirit, and connection. His concerts are journeys that speak to the heart, the eyes, and the soul, while casting a spell on the mind. He has performed at Sziget Festival, House of Music Hungary, many international stages, and at Müpa Budapest alongside the legendary Gábor Presser.

Special guest Réka Fodor, a singer, dancer, and percussionist, brings a new dimension to the concert with her voice, hand drums, shakers, and the enchanting sound of the handpan. Her performances blend traditional singing with modern experimentation, guided by improvisation, making each moment deeply personal and unique.

The visual experience is created by szb3d – Benjámin Szilágyi, an audiovisual artist and VJ. Using generative software and real-time 3D technology, he builds hypnotic, organic landscapes of light and motion that respond directly to the music. His works have been featured at Boom Festival (Portugal), O.Z.O.R.A., the Pécs Light Festival, the National Dance Theatre, and iconic venues such as A38 and Akvárium Club in Budapest.

This is Afrikora Lamine’s concert – a special, meditative yet vibrant experience where the voice of the kora, Réka’s singing and percussive artistry (with the magical handpan), and the visual art of szb3d merge into one.
