The series launched in the 2025/26 season focuses on composers whose operas receive special attention during the season. Yet there are many singers who do not find a role in the works of these masters, but who would gladly sing from their rich vocal palettes.

The season opens with hair-raising drama and spectacular singing as two of opera’s most extraordinary artists star in Macbeth, Verdi’s thrilling take on the immortal Shakespearean tale of the scheming couple determined to seize power at any cost.

Two of today’s leading dramatic tenors — Michael Fabiano and Brian Jagde — take on the tour-de-force title role of what many considerthe ultimate Italian opera, Verdi’s monumental Shakespearean tragedy. Beloved sopranos Angel Blue and Ailyn Pérez make their company role debuts as the long-suffering Desdemona, alongside baritones Artur Ruciński as the sinister Iago. Michele Mariotti leads the full forces of the Met Orchestra and Chorus in the exhilarating score.
