Érkezik egy Lovag, aki semmire sem tartja a nőket. Mirandolinát felbosszantja ez a nőgyűlölet, és elhatározza, magába bolondítja a férfit. Ehhez segítségül vesz két állástalan színésznőt, hogy megtréfálja a grófokat és a lovagot, ezzel elindul az őrület.
