The anticipation of Christmas has created different traditions in every century and in every major centres of cultural life throughout history. This is why it is so exciting to learn some more about Christmas traditions each year. This year the Junior Mixed Choir and various chamber music groups will perform several of Queen Elizabeth I’s wonderful motets from Renaissance England. The performers will be accompanied by the unique sound of viola da gambas, an instrument that is characteristic of the Renaissance period. But as is already tradition at our Christmas concerts, we will also be able to listen to virtuoso instrumental performances by members of theHungarian Radio Children’s Choiras well as will witness Palánták Choir’s nativity play. At this concert, Soma Dinyés’ interesting explanations will again contribute to the audience’s full concert experience.
