David Sheff újságíróként már-már egészen hétköznapi, középosztálybeli életet él második feleségével és két gyermekükkel. Az idillt megtöri, hogy legnagyobb fia, az előző házasságából született Nic egyre súlyosbodó drogfüggőséggel küzd. A különféle leszokási kísérletek, ígéretek és elvonókúrák elvetélt kísérleteknek bizonyulnak. A fia állapotát kétségbeesetten megérteni próbáló David pedig kénytelen feltenni magának a kérdést: meddig terjed a szülő felelőssége? (Port.hu)
