Contemporary Circus & Dance
age group: 2-99            length: 50 min

This time, Kata Juhász uses the art language of contemporary dance and circus to reach out to the youngest generations through her performance inspired by the forms and rhythm from the poems of poet and writer Sándor Weöres. Cloud-circus tells its story to kids through images, movements and live music. The popular poems of Sándor Weöres’ book “Bóbita” written for children serve as inspiration to the play: Déli felhők (Southern Clouds), Tündér (Fairy), Haragosi, Vásár (Market) or Kutya-tár (Dog-storage). The 50 minutes long dance and circus choreography illustrates these poems by using classical and improvised musical pieces.

Imaginary friends visit Katóka while she is staring at the clouds up on the summer sky. The dancer, acrobat and the musicians of the small circus company that is wandering amongst the clouds are joined by Katóka to look for new adventures.

The vision of the running “Southern Clouds” open end also close the play. The dancers and musicians represent archetypical characters, whose continuous metamorphoses - which are just like the clouds running on the sky with the changing seasons - bring adventure to the stage. The audience also takes its interactive part in this journey: the kids participating in the play can enjoy one their first encounters with dance theatre.

The poems of Sándor Weöres are not told during the performance but they inspire the creative visual and narrative of the play. Besides the great storylines and visual world of the poems, we also use the rhythm of the lyrics.
The violin is played live during the performance by Tijana Stankovic with Gábor Ölvedi on percussion and Endre Kertész on cello. The complete musical composition of the play was written by the actors themselves with the instructions of Endre Kertész.

Our offer

The legendary American jazz drummer Brian Blade (Chick Corea, Joshua Redman, Bill Frisell) is both a familiar face in Hungary and also a highly sought-after performer in pop circles, having played with many of the greats, including Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan. Blade has performed in Hungary on many occasions, including in a trio alongside Norah Jones.

A Beautiful Confusion ZÓRA váratlan, de intenzív feltűnésének címe is lehetne akár. A kaliforniai születésű és részben ma is Amerikában élő Urbányi Zóra 2021-ben élénk visszhangot váltott ki Kollár-Klemencz László Iszom a bort című dalának feldolgozásával, ami után egymást követték saját szerzeményei.

This two-part concert will present the finest and most diverse aspects of the Belgian jazz scene. The Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Belgian's leading big band, will be uniting its powers with the superb saxophonist Philip Catherine, outstanding guitarist Bert Joris and the distinctive singer David Linx to wow the audience as they perform a programme compiled especially for the Bridging Europe festival.
